I'm not sure if we have the userbase to support dedicated threads for them, so I figure we could talk about Toonami Show Rundown and Pre-Flight here? I had posts on them ready in a document, but then the ASMB suffered scorched earth policy... T__T Personally I think at least Pre-Flight can be given it's own thread. I think there's enough people to support discussion in that each week.

According to the backdoor schedule (most easily viewed here) adultswim.x10.mx/ The regular line-up will air on Thanksgiving weekend. Dragon Ball Z Kai and JoJo Part 1 can both end on December 17th if that is the case but that also means Gundam: IBO will end on December 10th leaving 1AM open on December 17th. Perhaps they'll re-air Children Who Chase Lost Voices on December 17th from 1AM-3:30 where it has a chance to actually do decently or they'll have some other one-off airing on December 17th before breaking two weeks for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. There could be any number of reasons why they intend to run the regular line-up that weekend. Finishing Kai before January may be one of them. Last Thanksgiving's Parasyte marathon did fantastic and Halloween did freak'n terrible so perhaps they looked at both nights and decided they should preempt the Saturday before Halloween but not the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It's also the last night of Intruder 3. Last year they were content running Intruder 2 segments on marathon nights but they may figure that people are going to tune in for the final segment of Intruder 3 however they can even if they're out of town. I certainly wont fault them for trying. If the goal is just to make sure Kai ends before January they could have just ran Kai in front of a marathon, maybe even Kai and Jojo. I suppose the schedule could still change. Make sure not to talk about this on social media or otherwise out in the open.

They wouldn't have had this problem if they hadn't spammed up the rest of the year with so many marathons.
I can't believe they're going to throw away precious premieres during a holiday weekend!
They could just replay the season finale or something like they did with One Punch Man to cover the Parasyte gap.
Airing Intruder segments during marathons never made any sense. All that work just to throw away "precious premieres"? Tons of people probably missed those episodes. Better to run these special events when there won't be any preemptions.
Regardless of the reasoning, I'm just glad we won't have a marathon that weekend.
Why? Will they run a marathon if people blab about this? Of course, you can count on Alchemist to blab about this everywhere...

What problem?
Replay episode 25 of IBO at 1AM two weeks in a row? Nah. They only encored One-Punch Man because it was the same night and they were gonna restart OPM in that slot the next week anyway.
People could easily watch Intruder without a cable subscription if they missed it either on AdultSwim.com or CabooseJr's YouTube, not quite the case for the dubbed episodes on Toonami. And while Intruder's animation isn't cheap running less than 5 minutes of the 25ish minutes of the whole over 2 marathon nights is hardly comparable to the cost of running 2 sets of 6 new episodes for a total of 12 new episodes. You could also look at it as Toonami rewarding their dedicated viewers for showing up. Certainly the most dedicated Toonami viewers wouldn't miss Intruder segments regardless of whatever else is airing.
As for the "don't be stupid" policy, that's just a precaution so Jason and other staff at Adult Swim don't find out that we can see further into the schedule than they assume we can. Obviously they wont end up airing the regular line-up instead of a marathon if their intention was to air a marathon and I don't foresee them changing their minds just because someone asked them about the schedule. I mean they might realize it was a mistake and change it but they wont change their plans based on someone blabbing about the schedule and/or asking them about it. Pretty much every other case when there was an upcoming marathon that night would leave Toonami blank until they decided what the marathon would be so the fact that it's the regular line-up with the correct episodes listed implies that's really what they intend to air as of now.
Give AL a bit more credit, I don't think he's ever asked an Adult Swim employee about a schedule oddity.

DBZ Kai not ending before the year is over. JoJo Part 1 as well, but DBZ especially. Well I don't know what they're going to do, then. Maybe there are some shorts they could run or something. What was that witch thing? Yes of course, but casual fans who tune out for marathons will have missed it. Just seems silly that with all the huge deal they made out of Intruder II and all the work put in that they would run it over marathons. I suppose you could see that as trying to entice people to watch the marathons, but ehh. Possibly they rewarded their dedicated viewers but I wouldn't watch a whole marathon just for that. Pretty sure I watched as much as I needed to to see Intruder and then got out of dodge. I just think it's unfortunate that more casual viewers or anyone not savvy enough to find the episodes on the video section or CabooseJr.'s Youtube would miss out. Then again most people in the demographic range who were interested could probably find the episodes if they really wanted to. Which means that... we won't be able to see further ahead? Also I thought Demarco had the backdoor schedule squashed like umpteen times. How do you guys keep digging it up? This one has a .mx domain! Trump will build a wall around it! I still don't get why Demarco is so obsessed with "surprising" everyone. It makes more sense to promote things ahead of time. They've announced things further ahead before but most stuff doesn't get promoted on-air until like two weeks or a week before it airs. Most other networks will promote stuff a month or months ahead of time. Oh okay. Well Al usually doesn't keep his mouth shut about most things but if it's just on boards that none of the staff reads I suppose there's no harm in it.

Episode 98 will air on December 17th if they run an episode of Thanksgiving weekend, anything beyond that remains up in the air still. Currently it looks more likely that Toonami will air Super in 2017 than the Buu Saga. JoJo part 1 will also finish on December 17th but it doesn't really matter aside from avoiding a two week gap between the last two episodes of Phantom Blood.
I had not really thought about it but I guess they could have chosen not to air Intruder segments on those weekends and stretch it into January. They probably couldn't start it sooner. They worked on that up to the wire IIRC.

Well hopefully Kai can end this year, then. It would be stupid not to. If it's because they can't get Buu Saga that's understandable, but I'd rather them not rush to Super if they have the option to air Buu first. Super is already sixty-something episodes in, so it's not like waiting longer will make any difference, at this point. The time to strike while the iron is hot has long since passed. We all know how Demarco hates to "throw away" episodes, too. It doesn't sound like him to skip Buu. That's more episodes you can get out of it and a reliable anchor that will last longer. And we don't know how long Super will go, after all. There's also the fact that Super doesn't have the best reception. I of course reserve judgement until I see the series myself, but going off what pretty much everyone has said, doesn't inspire confidence.
They could have easily done that. Maybe they wanted it to remain contiguous. Not sure how you would do 'breaks' with Intruder, either. I suppose they didn't want to delay it, either. But yeah, ideally, air the thing not around a ton of holidays.
I also wonder about the shorter number of episodes and smaller budget. Presumably the first one did well enough or Adult Swim wouldn't have given the greenlight for another event? Perhaps they chose to allocate that budget to the Oshii thing or whatever else.

My God the new boards are terrible. I now there's another board to avoid that one? So many boards!
I can tell Patrick Seitz is having a ball with Dio. I am delighted.
