Posting about comments he made defending the lack of projects by women at Adult Swim: "What I actually said was-women don't tend to like conflict, comedy often comes from conflict, so that's probably why we (or others) have so few female projects. Nonetheless this was a dumb answer to a good question as Lucille Ball and Gilda Rather to Amy Poelher and Amy Schumer prove my statement a load of generalized nonsense. I have always been very accessible to every person at work because I personally benefited from working at a company that allowed anyone, from any position, to pitch an idea-as long as the person was prepared to back up their ambition by doing any work required to justify the time or expense. If unnamed sources want to complain, complain about me after I've read the script you asked me to read or tossed you out of my office for pitching something I didn't like. If you did come to me I bet I offered some decent suggestions on how to accomplish whatever you wanted to do. I do sometimes yell and I'm not proud of it. (Inherited.) Metalocalypse: the writer above has it correctly. In the latter seasons particularly, the story hijacked the comedy. If BOTH creators can figure out how to work together again, we are open to reading new scripts. I still love great anime. I was watching it, loving it and being influenced by it before most of you were born (using the parlance of the great, selfish internet). One Punch Man is very, very good. Thanks. mike lazzo." link

I mean...how much conflict can there be in a kitchen? A dish breaks. Or a sandwich doesnt turn out as good. Try making jokes about that.

I read all of that thread over at reddit (I post regularly over there at the [as] subreddit). That article was shit. There have been a couple of other articles whining about the same thing.
I thought Mike's comment about Metalocalypse was interesting... I wonder if Brendon and Tommy will ever work together again. I am a big fan of Tommy, that man is a comedic genius. He's been involved in so many great things. I still want a second season of King Star King. That show is fantastic!!!!
As far as funny women, there have been many. At the top of my list are Andrea Martin and Catherine O'Hara. Their work on SCTV remains to me some of the funniest stuff of all time.

As with most of this stuff, it's kinda BS from both ends I think.
It's kind of a non-issue in a sense because, we don't really know how many women actually even pitch to AS. If 100 projects come in and 4 are pitched by women, I'd rather, as a fan, they just pick the 4 best/most viable things.
But also, that's part of - like what you realize news surfing for the board, as you plod along through the fields of the internet, there are all these sites that just have nothing to say and still have to post articles all day long. so opinion and non-issues kind of factor heavily into online news.
Having said that - it's pretty fucking stupid to reply to a non-issue. And half-assed reply at that. And maybe a half-assed reply is better in some ways than a non-issue deserves on some levels, BUT - the half assed reply is basically only going to draw the non-issue out and get more people talking about it.
Yes you kinda want people talking about Adult Swim online. But just not in this context.
Responding to what was essentially a piece written to fill space about what is essentially a non-issue is pretty stupid. And akin to shooting oneself in the foot. Which Lazzo, as brilliant as he is in terms of programming, seems to do once or twice a year.
The idea of responding to this, in this way, is dumb. It doesn't serve a positive purpose, it doesn't serve the network, programming, or act of programming, in any way.
