recent history of the nobel committee is to select highly political authors that few people have heard of in order to raise their profile.
murakami sells like stephen king in japan and routinely makes the ny times bestseller list stateside. i don't give him much of a chance, but i'd love to see him get the recognition he deserves.
also, just because fiction isn't overtly political, doesn't mean it isn't important. i happen to think there are a lot more important things in this world than politics...

as much as i'd love to see him win the nobel, i don't think it will ever happen.
he isn't political and his work just isn't boring enough.
reasons i'm wrong?

i worked there for more than a decade and still have many good friends in the company. i really hope they figure it out.
but i'm also glad i'm out...
