This is an "open" gaming section.
The basic idea is, if you have some way to run an rpg or play a cardgame, boardgame, wargame, dice game, etc on a message board, you can do that down here, and play games with each other in real time, or if possible just whenever people are able to log on.
Elimination games or other types of established simple message board games are also welcome.
You will also notice that there are various types of "game" threads in other places around the board as well, and that's ok. It's not mandatory that all game threads go here. This is just a place to lay out more complex rulesets and provide larger spaces for bigger games.
A game can be set up in an ongoing fashion (IE, whenever somebody can take a turn or make a move, they do that), or on a schedule (IE, "my game group will meet at xpm every xday of the week for two hour sessions"), or just spontaneously (IE, a group of bored people just decide to play a game down here), or some combination of all that.
There are various things that allow/facilitate the playing of games online. And as we discover those, we'll list them out in a "Game List" thread.
Much of the game play at first will be based on the "Die roll" icon in the post composer (looks like a 6-sided die, almost the last icon on the composer, second to last, just before the little moustache spoiler marker man icon).
If you click it, it will pop up a dialogue box that will ask your range. IE, what random number range you're trying to generate within.
So, "1-6" will mean you get a number between "1" and "6". If you're playing a game that requires you to roll a "20 sided die" then you'd type in "1-20" for that. Or "1-100" for a percent die roll. etc.
Once the range is typed in, just click "insert die" and code will appear in your post. finish your post (without messing with the code part) and the die roll will pop up along with whatever else you put in there when you post it.
Not only will your randomly generated number appear, but also the range used. This allows GMs and players to understand that the roll wasn't doctored in any way. Everyone can see the number rolled, and the range that was put in to achieve that number.
As we think of new ways to use this to play games, and new things online to facilitate more types of games, we'll post that stuff and show you how to use it.
Some games will require their own folder (such as a complex RPG campaign), whereas others can simply be carried out in a thread here in the main folder.
If you'd like your game to have its own folder, let me know in the "Request a table" thread and we'll make you something up.
