Episode 87 - So they were serious about putting their names down there so they don't have to keep introducing themselves, haha. Death Note is good but I feel Monster really shows how it's done when it comes to that kind of show. Death Note a "simulcast?" Yeah the anime fans were thin-skinned but you can see how that promotional strategy would backfire. Adult Swim aired some good anime but there was a lot of crap and a lot of middle of the road forgettable shows. They didn't air a lot of the must-see shows either, hence the various unfinished business picks of Toonami. Tighter than modern anime? There was a lot of fat that could've been trimmed from Death Note, like that whole arc with the evil company, or the umpteen times Light erased his memory and all that other bullshit. Hell, was Misa even needed? Not sure Shinigamis are such a super Japanese concept. They're basically Grim Reapers. The ending and the stuff that happens afterward is good, but yeah, I don't get why you would kill off L half-way through the show. Speaking of marathons, they had to do one for Death Note because of the rights running out in the middle of its last run. Champloo aired billions of times but you still aired that. But, whatever rationalization you need. Whatever keeps ASA reruns off Toonami. I'm just thankful that it seems Champloo was an outlier or an exception and won't be part of a pattern. Jacob's Ladder looks freaky as hell. SPOILERZ! It seemed excessive to kill the kids too. Mulholland Drive looks pretty creepy. Those expressions and and camera work. Booo it cut off early what a ripoff, Demarco! Martyrs looks messed up, though. The more clips of A Beautiful Mind they show the less interesting it seems. Requiem for a Dream looks fucked up. The only thing I ever heard about Black Swan for was the lesbo action. I didn't know it had all this demented stuff in it. I wasn't really sure what was considered a psychological horror movie. Some could fit into multiple categories. The Silent Hill games are truly creepy and scary. Don't know about the movies. Didn't know they were inspired by Jacob's Ladder. But yeah if The Shining and Donnie Darko count, I've seen those. They're good. What was that movie with Leonardo Decaprio on the island? That was good. Okay I've already commented on this "music" video. Gundam promo was fine I suppose. Interesting that Demarco considers Gundam to have "done well" for them. I suppose it's not as bad of a hit for them as it appears, and they consider the show worth getting lesser ratings than they were before. Permanent Gundam slot is not in so much jeopardy after all? Blum and son were acting strange here. Blum has a convention manager? Well I suppose he does go to quite a few. That guy really needs to update his look, though. That hair. Oof. Who was that character on Steve's banner? That Single was just obnoxious. How do people listen to this shit?

Episode 88 - There's a mouse cursor on Jason. Blue Gender wasn't as good as you remember? It wasn't good then or now! It was supposed to be a Toonami show? Thank fuck that didn't happen. I doubt the uncut version would be much better anyway. Everybody run to Funimation's YouTube and watch all of Blue Gender right now! Naw it's fair to say the show is bad, Jason. What the fuck is Mike, Lou, and Oggy? Okay that Videodrome clip wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Re-Animator. James Rolfe reviewed these movies but I never did get around to watching any of them. Tetsuo is like anime meets art film. Can't tell what is going on in some of that clip, though. From Beyond looks fucked up. I saw the old Fly but never got around to seeing the 80s one. I need to see it. I think Gill's dad might be part of why he's so messed up. Teeth? Is that movie actually good? I always thought it was silly. Nice Children Who Chase Lost Voices trailer. Too bad no one will see it since you played it during the marathon! Which means nobody will see this movie. Well done, Demarco. The way Demarco said "music video" tells me he knows what he's doing here. He's enjoying trolling with them. Hmm, some of those voices are from real news reports. Clever way to add some believability there. Okay, this actually isn't bad for a rap song. The cartoons appearing in the real world are pretty boring and lame, though, and we're stuck in a single hallway. The completely covered up guy turns out to be a cartoon himself, to the surprise of nobody. Alright, so not a bad song, but pretty blah video. I never thought about the sound mixing being done separately from the video editing. I guess that makes sense. This looks hard as fuck. Yeah every little thing needs a sound effect, which you don't always notice or think about. He mixes *and composes* some of the music too? This man is a savant! Brent Busby is a cool name, too. Pussy Riot is... not pleasant to listen to. I missed a Titanfall 2 sneak peak by not watching the marathon. Ooooohhh noooooo! Between the vagina-mouthed monsters of Blue Gender, Teeth, and Pussy Riot, the theme of this episode of Pre-Flight is vaginas, hohoho!

What the fuck is Mike, Lou, and Oggy? Mike, Lu & Og is one of the earliest Cartoon Cartoons, and also one of the most forgettable. It's amazing that I caught at least one episode of that when I was young, and none of I Am Weasel.

Episode 89 - I think it's pronounced "es-cry-ed", phonetically. Those hyphens must be there for a reason! But yeah, they're basically anime mutants, though the way the powers work and are depicted is different than that. It's almost like they're cyborgs, but not really. But yeah, it's a fun, silly show. I wouldn't compare s-CRY-ed to Code Geass at all. This show is over-the-top and fun. Code Geass is too far up its own ass. If they don't have much to say about this show, why review it? They must really be running out of shows. But yeah, s-CRY-ed, a fun show with fun characters. It had decent notoriety but didn't get crazy popular. I'd say it's worth a watch to anybody who hasn't seen it. Not too many mini-series nowadays are there? Last ones I remember watching were SyFy's reimaginings of Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz. They weren't bad. Roots was before my time and then later on I never did get around to watching it. I should, though. I didn't know Roots was Levar Burton's first role, either. The Singing Detective looks fucked. I don't remember the religious stuff ever being in that bones song, either. Rofl that Diebuster thing is cut with Rogue One audio. Whaaaa was that the Anti-Spiral?! He's in it too?! It's a shared universe between FLCL, Diebuster, and Gurren Lagann! Eh I would watch Gunbuster before watching Diebuster. Completionist, after all. Not sure OVAs can be considered mini-series, though, or if Japan even has mini-series. I've heard that O.J. thing is pretty good but do we really need to hear anymore about OJ? LOL Naked Gun! Thanks Gill! Never saw Band of Brothers. Never had HBO or any of those premium channels. Too expensive! Was Ascension that SyFy thing with the space travellers stuck in the 60s? Looked stupid to me. I liked It. That's a mini-series, right? Or how about The Langoliers. But yeah mostly scratching my head on mini-series right now. They're really pretty rare these days, too! Well we barely saw more in that Intruder III promo, but I'm interested, nonetheless. Didn't Dana already review Serial Experiments Lain? No that was Texhnolyze. Seem kinda' similar to me. The characters in this look creepy. Lain seems kind of disturbing just from what Dana has shown. Not sure I would want to watch it. That keychain looked like a Moogle. That Single was more ambiance and noise than music.

It's amazing that I caught at least one episode of that when I was young, and none of I Am Weasel. I see. From the creator of Rugrats, eh? Rugrats was okay... pretty much only watched it because there was nothing else on and nothing to do at the time. That problem wouldn't happen in today's entertainment and media world! I think I remember cartoons from that guy somehow being tied in with D.A.R.E., too. In the corner of the book there was a flip animation of a dog, not sure what else. But yeah never heard of Mike, Lu, and Ogg, or I am Weasel, for that matter. Think it's funny that that bump found it's way back to the guy for him to get pissed off at Demarco, lol.
