Well the Jays are going to be significantly more rested for the Series either way. In all seriousness, Cleveland vs Chicago should be a good series if the Cubs can get there.

Every time I watch the pre/post game shows on MLB network, I keep wondering if Pete Rose had a stroke some time in his past. Like his mouth kinda sags on one side and it seems to affect his speech. I looked on his wikipedia page and saw no mention of a stroke or any other health problems.

2003..... Cubs fans will never forget.
Everyone blames poor Bartman when in reality the Cubs just fell apart.

And goodbye Dodgers. Cubs go to their first World Series since 1945. After that double play it took a min for it to set in with me, after that I had to wipe away a few tears and started celebrating.

Cubs gotta get their shit together.
That game should have technically be 1-0 till Rondon gave up that blast.
Technicality gets thrown out the window in sports, I know, but still....
Cubs had 4 RISP, and did not capitalize. At one point the bases were loaded with no outs and not a single run was scored.
I don't think Cleveland's Bullpen is as untouchable as the announcers make them out to be, I think this game was just missed opportunities and mistakes.

yep Cubs need to capitalize on their opportunities that kills a team, yes Indians have a good bullpen they allow hits but they are good if they get out of those innings with runners in scoring positions
Contreras buddy in the 9th down 6-0 and do a bat flip on a home run that dint happen lol

I honestly thought about buying a ticket but 3 grand plus the 8 hour drive and then finding a hotel.....
if they go up 3-1 I may drive up there just to experience the possible celebration.

One of my classmates is from Chicago, and he said he wishes he still lived there so he could go to one of the games. I'm like, "it's probably pretty expensive though" and he was like, "Yeah, but I'd spend the money for that." I think he was underestimating just how expensive those tickets are/were going to be, but I let it go. Most ASMBers who know me know I'm a huge SF Giants fan, but I wouldn't go to a Giants World Series game unless a) the tickets were given to me for free or b) I'm rich as fuck so who cares about the cost. And that includes the 2010, 2012, 2014, and any future WS the Giants may play in.

The party for at team that has had die hard fans who haven't seen a World Series birth in 71 years... and a win in over 100... that's a town I'd like to be in if they do win.

Maybe some of you Cubs fans can shed some light on this for me... I was watching MLB network, and they showed footage of Bill Murray singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game at Wrigley Field last night... and he injected a lot of Sylvester the Cat-isms in it. Does anyone know why he did that? Did Harry Carey do that back in the day? Does Bill Murray just love Sylvester as much as he loves the Cubs? What's the deal?

I don't remember Harry singing like that, it's been awhile though.
Down 3-1, Cubs gotta pull their heads out of the asses and want it if they're going to win.

What an intense game cubs made their hits count and Chapman gave them 3 great innings to close out the game gutsy call bringing him in like that

I prefer a nice 3-4 run lead going into the 9th, I'll take the win though. I think Maddon did that because the Bullpen has been pretty hit or miss this postseason (all season actually) Rondon hasn't been himself since he returned from the DL Chapman is usually pretty lights out.

yeah those one run leads aren't fun at all especially in the postseason
Well when chapman was brought against the giants and dodgers in the 8th he got hit for some runs so I thought he might do the same, but than I remembered he hasn't really pitched so he was really well rested

Honestly, since the Cubs acquired him the only teams I've seen actually hit off him were the Giants and the Dodgers in the post season.
The only blown saves I can remember him having since the trade were due to control issues more than people knocking him around.

Also really hoping the Cubs bats show up in Cleveland. I'm really glad Schwarber's bat is going to be back in the lineup because they need all the help they can get right now.
the bottom half of their lineup hasn't been producing at all since the series started. Addison Russell has been making pretty good contact with the ball recently... unfortunately the balls have been flying straight to players instead of the gaps.

Yeah that extra bat can help them, with the pitching being the way it is every at bat needs to be a good at bat, swing for the hit cash those runs in.

It's probably going to be super stressful, oh boy! I see Maddon using Lester and Lackey potentially out of the Bullpen tomorrow. I don't know if he's using Chapman so much because he's almost 99.7% lights out, or if he just doesn't trust the rest of the Pen to get the job done. Honestly, aside from Montgomery and Chapman they've looked pretty janky. Grimm's ok and Wood has his moments but he hasn't been as good as last season. Kluber has been pretty fucking good so far for the Indians, hopefully the Cubs show some plate discipline and force him to throw strikes.
