Americans are the only ones to ever successfully land a probe on mars. The other space agencies are still quite a bit behind us and now our private space industry too.

So, they lost contact with the lander during descent and believe it may have crash landed. But for good news, it did deploy the atmospheric monitor they wanted to study gasses on Mars at least.

I've gotta wonder why ESA is using limited batteries on this thing. NASA uses nuclear batteries (Radioisotope thermoelectric generators) so their probes can be powered for decades.

So with Pluto, Makemake, Haumea and debatably Ceres and Eris, that makes 6 dwarf planets in the Sol system so far.

I wish they'd make those here. Even with a light on my bike I end up running into gravel at 5am.

I think it uses the same firmware but let me know if it doesn't. I can find the right CAB files and XML manifest for it.

Too bad nothing but PCs will have the firmware to support it for ages.

A side note: If you have plugged in your Zune before or already had the software installed previously, you will need to use CCleaner or another application to clear all of the Zune Dekstop Software's and Internet Explorer's temporary files before this will work.

So I recently found an ex-girlfriend's Zune in my things and decided it'd be nice to have a dedicated portable music player. Unfortunately for me, when I factory reset the device it required a firmware update - and microsoft no longer maintains the servers that had the Zune firmware updates on them. It took quite a bit of time to find the correct way to do this after sifting through a bunch of guides that only had things half right, so I figured I'd document it here! Step 1 Do not connect your Zune to the computer until the end of this guide when specified.
Step 2 Download and install the Zune desktop software (thankfully still available from Microsoft) here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27163
Step 3 Download and install "Abyss Webserver X1" from this link: aprelium.com/abyssws This will allow you to mimic the server Microsoft once provided on your own computer.
Step 4 Download and extract the files from this zip archive: ufile.io/db91 (if this link expires, please PM me and I will re-upload the archive) to C:\Abyss Web Server\htdocs (or wherever you installed the server if not there) and maintain the directory structure EXACTLY. It should look like the image below in explorer.
Step 5 Find Notepad (NOT WORDPAD) or the raw text editor of your choice in your start menu, right click it and choose "Run as administrator". Next, go to FIle->Open or press Ctrl+O and navigate to C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc, then open the file "hosts". (Note: you may not see hosts unless you change the drop down box in the file open dialog from Text Files to All Files) Add a new line to the bottom of the file and insert the following:
127.0.0.1 resources.zune.net This tells your computer to look at the server you are running instead of Microsoft's servers when looking for anything on resources.zune.net
Step 6 Open up a command prompt by pressing Windows Key+R and typing cmd in the Run dialog. When you have the command prompt open, type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes. You should see the result pictured below.
Step 7 Now, plug in the Zune, and if it doesn't automatically start, open the Zune desktop software. You should now be able to update your Zune's firmware.

This stuff is pretty cool. Lyft and Uber are both using driverless cars in my city now.
There's still a person in the driver's seat, but they're an engineer that's sitting there looking at a laptop display instead of driving, monitoring the car.

Computer crashing? Smart TV showing your wife your porn habits? Phone attempting to murder the dog? In this era of the internet of things, bring us your problems and we will attempt to deliver unto salvation. When my hp laptop is left with the charger plugged in overnight it won't turn on. It's done this a few times before. In the past if I plugged it in it'll turn on but have full power. Sometimes it's just after hitting the power button it'll turn on? I've took the battery out and held the power button down for 15 sec. I've taken the battery out and put it back in. Anyway it's being stubborn today and not turning on at all.it's not that old I bought it in March this year.Idk it's under warranty so if all else fails I'll just take it to Wal-Mart. But still if u have any solution or reason it might help save a trip. Thx (sorry for weird shelling errors I'm typing in my phone and I use Swype to type) If you only bought it in March this year it's definitely still under warranty and I'd use that. It sounds like it's probably got a short somewhere.

If you buy a newer prebuilt PC or Laptop with "Windows Signature Edition" you may be completely unable to use anything but Windows 10 on it without 3rd party firmware being flashed to the BIOS.

that's what i was thinking too. i was hoping to do it all in one shot. i may just end up unmounting it and recreating the root partition in ext4 and moving all of my data on a backup hard drive. I'd do the latter if you can. I know it's more work, but the less you do in one go, the less steps can fail at once.

Is the drive formatted as ext4 already? If not or you don't know, run GNU parted (which I believe should be in the Centos install package as the gparted binary) and make sure it is. If yes, ext4 should be available from Centos 5.6 and up, are you using an older version? it was formatted originally as ext3 because it's an old VM, i'm trying to move to a newer version of Centos and, at the same time, move to ext4. the root mount doesn't want to play nice. i'm on 7.2 now, i was on 6.2 Ohh yeah that's gonna be a bit tricky. Personally I'd install it as ext3 and then convert to ext4 after you've got the system running. This guide is for Debian but the same steps should apply to Centos. debian-administration.org/article/643/Migrating_a_live_system_from_ext3_to_ext4_filesystem

i'm trying to rebuild Centos and it keeps trying to mount my drive as ext3. i don't want ext3 i want ext4 without having to move all the data somewhere else, unmounting it, recreating the block file, and remounting it as ext4 Is the drive formatted as ext4 already? If not or you don't know, run GNU parted (which I believe should be in the Centos install package as the gparted binary) and make sure it is. If yes, ext4 should be available from Centos 5.6 and up, are you using an older version?

It's a major improvement on previous versions of Windows in most ways, just, not for power users.

How do i stop windows 10 from letting it update this 10th anniversary update crap, because i tried it yesterday left it all night and it got stuck on a particular black screen for like 12 hours wtf? so i had to power it down for a while and it reset to the previous version, do i just ignore it forever? Unless you have the business edition, you can't ignore updates forever. Unfortunately Windows 10 takes almost all control away from the user. You can install one of those pirate remixed versions but do so at your own peril. Otherwise spend 5 hours on the phone with MS Tech Support.
